Indaba Music

Yet again I bring you another resource to help all you talented musicians. This time it is Indaba Music, and it has been quoted that this is "the Linkedin of music", and that can't be anymore true. This site is similar to that of BandMix except this goes to a whole new level.

So what does Indaba Music offer?

Networking/Collabs: Members are able to have their own profiles and use these profiles to network with others in the music industry and be able to become discovered by professionals. You are able to upload your own music and collaborate with other musicians on the site.

Sell/Distribute:  Indaba allows you to sell to Itunes or even sell directly to your fans through your own widget. Then you are able to share everything through your social networking pages. But what makes the distributing even more amazing is the way to distribute royalties. You can distribute to each member of your band the amount of royalties they should receive. Which makes it easy on everyone else.

Opportunities: There are so many opportunities and concerts posted on the website. Such as remix, songwriting, and many other types of contests. Prizes can be just exposure or even be money amounts that can be thousands of dollars. Some notable opportunities were with Linkin Park, Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Colbert, and T-Pain.

Does it cost anything?

There are 3 different types of accounts. The basic one is free, but you have limited access such as you can only enter 3 contests per year. But then there are other accounts that you have to pay for which allows you to gain more access. There is the pro account which is $50 a year where you basically get unlimited anything, and then the platinum account which is $250 a year, which basically just gets you more storage space compared to the pro account and allows you to put more songs on Itunes using their service. I think the $50 a year package is definitely worth it if you are serious about doing remixes and songwriting. Because even if you just win one it can pay off.

I suggest all of you musicians to at least sign up for a free account and see if it is for you. It can only help you! Go to www.Indabamusic.com now!

This week I wanted to start off with an industry resource that could help any type of artist. This site is called MediaPost. There are multiple sections of this site, the greatest part about it is the directories section. In the directories you have access to the contact information of over 150,000 media contacts.

Let me break it down a bit. Say you wanted to look up radio stations. You can stick to just local ones in your area, or you can search nationally. Also, you can narrow it down to the specific format (genre) of the radio station. In the search results, you will find all of the contacts within their network, along with ways to contact them. You can do the same search with newspapers, magazines, television stations, websites, and much more.

There is a lot more to MediaPost other than the directories, such as classifieds, research info, publications, and even a community section where you can create a profile, but I feel the directories are essential for new artists looking to get their name out there. So check it out now!

Featured Artist: Jessica Moskaluke

May I present to you.....the next big country pop star Jess Moskaluke! Again, it is because of Tyler Ward that I have become aware of this extremely talented young woman. This Canadian beauty is Tyler Ward's most recent featured artist. And I must say he has great taste in artists!

To be honest, I have only recently started to like country music. So I am very specific to the country music that I listen to. Jess Moskaluke has the perfect country radio sound to her voice, with a little rock-edge, which attracts me to the music. The comments I have been reading about her have been comparing her to Carrie Underwood, and those people are right on it. I honestly believe Jess Moskaluke has the vocal talent to perform with big artists like Carrie Underwood.

Just this past weekend her new video for "Catch Me If You Can" was released. She co-wrote the song with Tiffany Vartanyan and Rachel James and it was produced by Ilya Toshinskiy. This song is absolutely beautiful. She has so much control in her voice and the big note she hits at the end gives me goosebumps. The video, produced by the very talented Sean Hagwell, just completes the song and makes it truly remarkable.

Also, back around November or so, Jess Moskaluke worked with Tyler Ward on her song "Amen Hallelujah". She was Tyler Ward's featured artist back then as well, but somehow I missed her. Shame on me. If you want a true country song with attitude, this is definitely for you. I love all of her music, but this song is my favorite. Check it out for yourself!

Ever since I first found out about Jess Moskaluke a few days ago, I have been listening to her music non-stop. She has the talent and beauty to have an amazing career in the music industry and I have no doubt that she will go far. She makes me want to move to Canada to find all the other talented musicians up there :) I even bought her music TWICE on Itunes! Well my computer messed up and made me buy it twice, but it is worth it! So I advise all of to buy her music on Itunes (at least once) and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
